Tomorrow, my friends, is a big day. I mean, a really, REALLY big day. You see, tomorrow….tomorrow the most beloved mauve carpet that has caught all Ellie’s falls as she was learning to walk, has been the backdrop of party after party, has absorbed all Boots’ pee when he was having seizures….this oh-so-special-carpet will be removed. Yes, all gone. Done, Bye-bye.
I couldn’t be happier…unless I could get rid of this strange feeling that now I have to actually buckle down and do some proactive decoration. I’ve decided that’s exactly what I am…a passive decorator. I take what comes to me. You see, I HATE spending money on expensive things. I feel guilty…the question my decision…then feel guilty again. I make excuses, and have a bit of a rough time enjoying whatever it is I felt strongly enough to buy. Good lord, it’s confusing.
That being said, it’s not just that I feel badly about spending money, it’s that I LOVE to reinvent, recreate and revive old pieces that I find…it’s not even so much about spending money as it is about making it mine.
This, my friends, is why I love Pinterest so much. SOOOO much inspiration and instruction – and I don’t have to go sifting through all the binders I’ve collected over the years and filled with magazine clippings! WOO HOO! Which is also why I’ve started a new blog, dedicated completely to my Pinterest Inspirations. PearlyNerfect, my signature name, is now the home of the annals of my experiments. I’m soon going to post about the process of reupholstering a wing back chair that was supposed to just be an experiment but is now one of my favorites…check out www.PearlyNerfect.com when you get a chance, and let me know your thoughts will you?
In other news…I found some pictures of Ellie Graye from several months ago, and holy moly, it’s crazy to see how much she’s grown.
Oh, and best of all…..Boots brought me a present, just because he loves me.
